Cloudy Water Concerns after New Connection
There have been many inquiries as to why water from the tap is cloudy after being connected to the new water main. The answer is AIR.
The cloudiness is caused by air in the lines and will dissipate over time. When we receive the notifications from residents, we send a request to the crew that is installing the lines to flush the system. Apparently, it takes a while to bleed the air out of plastic pipe, which is what is replacing the old pipe. Even after flushing, the cloudiness may return and the line will need to be flushed again.
It's a process, but a harmless one. The water coming from your tap may be cloudy, but it is clean. It has been tested, approved by the Department of Health and poses no risk to the consumer.
If you have any question, please reach out to our Streets and Water Department, the elected officials or the Village Office.
